Free Tips For The Beginner Guitar Player
By Amy AndersonHere are some great tips, for the beginner, to keep you going, motivated, and having fun. Follow these tips during your practice time throughout your week. Learning to play the guitar should be lots of fun and these tips will help.
When you are first learning to play the guitar you may want a teacher to start out. The lessons are usually once a week for 30 minutes and the cost is usually an average of $40 a month. If you are a beginner, this maybe the best way for you to learn to play the guitar. A great guitar teacher has the experience to teach you how to play the guitar properly and provide you with feedback. Your guitar teacher will let you know when you are doing something right or wrong and will encourage you along the way.
Remember you will need to practice between your lessons, e ven if you take your lessons online. It is recommended to practice 30 minutes every day, but your schedule will determine what will work for you. Some days you may not be able to practice and other days the time may just fly by and you don't realize how long you were practicing (playing).
When you are first learning to play the guitar, don't get discouraged. Your fingers may get sore, so try limiting your time so you can build up some calluses on your fingers. Try 5 minutes several times a day at first, then you will quickly be able to practice for 30 minutes a day. If you push yourself, be careful not to break the skin, it will take your fingers longer to heal than just taking it slow.
Try to have good posture for the guitar style you are playing. At first your going to want to look at where your fingers are, so try to sit up or stand up straight right after you change a cord. As you get better at the cords, you will naturally look lees and less at your fingers.
When your are first learning a song, you will not be able to play it in normal time. Take it slow, get down your chord changes, and your strumming or picking pattern. Then you will naturally gain speed and be playing the song at normal tempo.
You may find it helpful to use a metronome, to help you keep an even rhythm or timing. At first you will set the metronome to a slower speed than normal for the song. Later the metronome will help you keep an even rhythm for the duration of a song instead of speeding up or sowing down.
If you find your practice time is boring, try playing around with the cords you are practicing by mixing up the cords. You can also try changing the timing, make it slower, or make it faster. Once you have a few different strumming or picking rhythms, try using a rhythm from a different song, just to mix things up a bit and to keep from getting bored.
Follow these tips and you will become a better guitar player. Continue to practice and be persistent do not give up. Remember to keep it interesting and to have fun.
